The DivX HEVC encoder is a command line tool that is now capable of encoding HEVC content. Writing library : libebml v1.3.0 + libmatroska v1.4.0 Writing application : mkvmerge v6.2.0 ('Promised Land Rovi v1.0.1') built on 16:01:57 I don't know how long it took to encode the 7:30 video since I was watching football but it was a lot slower than the first encode. The audio still had the crackling sound though so I tried to play it in MPC-HC and although it threw out an error about the divx demuxer it played the audio without the crackling sound so it seems it is the divx player that is causing the crackling audio. To my surprise, the MKV opened in mkvmerge gui (I haven't been able to get mkvmerge to handle any HEVC files) and I was able to mux the ac3 file into the mkv.
The video quality looked slightly better since the original had some grain and the Xvid was 788MB while the DivX HEVC MKV was only 123 MB. The only complaint was that the ac3 audio that was passed through had crackling sounds in the headphones that the original ac3 did not have and being a music video it was unacceptable. I used an ac3 XviD as source and the encoder created a file that played fine.
I'll try completely uninstalling it and cleaning the registry and then reinstalling itĮDIT: Seems the problem was with the source which was an uncompressed AVI. The encoded video will not play in graphstudio or any other player and will not open in Virtualdub. The DivX player plays the first frame for a few seconds, the last frame for a fraction of a second, the first frame for a few seconds, the last frame for a fraction of a second and so on until the end of the video.
V_mpegh/iso/hevc codec for vlc mac 720p#
I reinstalled DivX 10 and it encoded a 720p video and although it encoded much faster than the x265.exe encoder, the file was unplayable.
